Geonaft Company held a course of geomechanical modeling for specialists from the Cuba’s petroleum company Cupet as part of a qualification program from the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University.
Ruslan Melikov, Geonaft Business Development Director and Head of the Geonaft Technology Center in Tyumen, conducted the full-time part of the program in Havana.
In this course, specialists have studied the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of geomechanical modeling for solving a wide range of problems in the field of drilling and well construction, hydraulic fracturing, production and development of oil and gas fields.
The practical part consisted of 1D geomechanical modeling in Geonaft software for solving the problem of wellbore stability planning, choosing the optimal trajectory and design of directional and horizontal wells, as well as solving the problem of planning the drilling fluid program and evaluating the ECD limits, which plays an important role in the choice of modes well drilling and cementing, tripping speeds, etc.
Cupet expressed gratitude to KFU for organizing this training program, and also showed interest in Geonaft's high-tech solutions.
